On the road again


Argh.... logging truck. Seems to see them wherever we go in Borneo.

Do you think there will be any rainforest left in Borneo?

hi Titania,
Borneo is so vast that it will take some years before all forests are wiped out. But biodiversity is so high here that even if a small part of the forest is gone, many species may go with it.

In Puerto Rico USA, some foolishly thought effort is made by the contemplative nature freaks SIERRA Club to protect some land left.

However, no one makes any plans to attack,
denounce those destroying the isle
as a whole: Housing and Highway developers.

Logging if done wisely, may last forever, wood wise. However biodiversity will be destroyed.

In forests with management, with trash wood, the ones use to make paper, you have soil, some erosion control, shade, but no biodiversity.

No matter how immense that country is, it will look like shit, or a cow pie, eventually.

I agree. Tropical forest is a very complex ecosystem - its not the just trees.
