The reckless nymphette Fed-Exed herself into the wanton arms of an aging web master....her body, wrapped in the best nuptial silk, is nevertheless emptied of vital vigour as toxic mastication morphed it into a phantom ship ....
Out in the field trying my new gadgets when I stubled upon this Parawixia dehaani gift wrapping a Cicada. This is a commonly encountered orb-web spider widely distributed in SE ASia.

Wow. couldn't tell if it was a plant or a bug. I guess it is a bug.
Is its bite poisonous to humans?
How big is this thing? i've seen some big spiders at our farm in the bush of Taveuni, but they're not poisonous or aggressive.
But the thought of having this whatchamacallit crawling on me makes my skin want to crawl out of my skin!
Hi Wannabe,
I suppose you are referring the thingy the spidey is carrying ....its a bug alright, was, since its on its way to be reincarnated to something else.
Hi Rin,
Its a small spider maybe 2-3cm including limbs. Its not known to be dangerous, unless you are a cicada.
Cheers.
Ouch!
Great pictures! It's neat to see this spider in action!
Zoinks, spiders give me really bad nightmares - but the photography is so gorgeous and vivid...
