Henckelia quinquevulnera

A very nice and distinctive shrubby gesneriad endemic to Peninsula Malaysia. Found large population of this delightful plant along a remote stream along the highland in Pahang. There were lots of herbs, ferns, Bulbophyllum virescens and flowering climbers at this botanical paradise. We lost track of time photographing them and were almost left behind by the rest of the gang who had started their travel down the foothill ....

What wonderful flowers, Have you tried to grow it, as it looks worth cultivating.

I found some seeds, but this may be a cool grower.

I would have stayed behind too, being caught by these interesting and beautiful plants. Good on you to get some seed.
You asked me for the name of the Hibiscus. I have activated my very last grey cell and the name has come back to me! It is "Isobel Beard"! It was a good excercise for my braincells!

Thanks for coming back with the Hibiscus name Trudi, it is a very special one, I have not seen this here.

Actually it would be disastrous to be stranded at such a remote place without any guide !

Thanks for sharing this beautiful plant. How do you normally arrange for such trip? Is it expensive to "rent" a guide?

Hi milnek,

this particular species is quite common in Pahang, a famous locale is Fraser's Hill which is easily accessible, you do not need a guide there as there are marked trails.

For more remote places, perhaps you can try Singapore's Adventurer's Club or similar.
