Bulbophyllum membranifolium

A native of SE Asia, this smallish orchid is tricky in the lowland as it prefers cooler temperature - which is a pity.

Not seen it here in the uk though I first saw a nice whole plant pic on Eric Hunts site. Such plants are really for a specialst greenhouse here.

Just saw that too, I think he found it mass flowering in the wild. Cultivated specimens in the lowland only produce 1 or 2 flowers if you are lucky.

Hi Melissa,
Will revert your mail.

The elephant ear is the largest Bulbophyllum in the world - my jaw dropped when I saw the specimens in Borneo.

Bought a few during the last JB Orchids Show and had managed to flower it... with one flower though... Like the barring on the flower...

In lowland it does not seem to flower much. Same for B. pustulatum - hard to grow here even though supposedly lowland.
